School Expectations

At St John’s School, there are high expectations for all pupils regarding their behavioural conduct and attitudes towards learning.

Our school rules are as follow:

At St John’s School, we are ready to learn, communicate, and have fun. We are respectful of ourselves, other pupils, and adults. And we are safe in school, on the playground, and out in the community. These school rules prepare pupils to become good citizens in adulthood.

Our school motto of ‘Achieving Together’ underpins our high expectations of:

  • Pupils behave safely and respectfully in school with the support of staff
  • Teachers provide a stimulating learning environment and personalised curriculum to ensure students learn successfully and safely
  • Parents/carers work in partnership with the teachers and their child to promote safe behaviours to ensure students are prepared fully for adulthood

The staff team at St John’s School are PRICE trained, and therefore, positive behavioural support strategies and de-escalation techniques are at the forefront of our behavioural management. We also teach pupils that actions have consequences. This underpins our approach to motivating rewards and sanctions and is personalised to be meaningful and impactful for pupils.

St John’s School is a UNICEF Bronze Rights Respecting School. Ofsted rated ‘Good Provider’ (September 2023).
