Mental Health/Wellbeing

Teaching and practicing positive mental health and wellbeing enables every staff member and pupil at St John’s to feel positive, manage their emotions with care, positivity and understanding every day.

Positive mental health is everyone’s responsibility and we recognise that we all have a role to play.

St John’s employs Mental Health First Aiders for anyone to seek support whether it’s around work or personal issues.

Our Aims

  • To develop and maintain a whole school approach to positive mental health and wellbeing
  • To ensure that all staff and pupils are aware of how we talk about/communicate and maintain a mentally healthy approach to daily learning
  • To ensure everyone is equipped with skills to manage theirs and others’ emotional needs with greater passion and independence
  • To develop and maintain a ‘let’s talk’ approach for all staff and pupils around mental health and wellbeing
  • Make sure that wellbeing is at the forefront of everything we do, every day
  • Ensure all staff have read and adhere to the Mental Health and Wellbeing Access Document
  • Ensure that mental health and wellbeing is included and respected in all aspects of learning and in all relevant policies
