Careers
We provide a relevant and engaging careers curriculum which meets the differing needs and requirements of our pupils. This is developed throughout a pupil’s time at the school and is always supportive of their abilities, strengths, skills, interests and motivators.
Aims
To inspire and motivate learners, through career opportunities and guidance, work experience, work-related activities and employer interventions, to be able to:
- Transition from St John’s and develop an understanding of themselves in relation to their future and employment opportunities
- Develop and understand which jobs/skills they find rewarding and engaging so they can make informed decisions regarding careers which are appropriate for them
- Experience and learn about careers in the world of work
- Develop soft skills such as personal organisation; communication, adaptability, problem-solving, team work, creativity, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Develop as individuals, to improve life opportunities and live as independently as is possible
