Governors at St John’s have always played an active and supportive role in the life of the school. Now St John’s is part of a multi academy trust: Bedford Inclusive Learning and Training Trust (BILTT) we have a Local Advisory Board (LAB) which reports to the BILTT Board of Trustees.
Our Board Members:
Board members have duties under company law and our multi academy trust funding agreement. Boards also operate within charity law and regulations.
A message from our new LAB chair:
Dear Families and Friends.
On behalf of the Local Advisory Board (LAB), thank you for your continued support of St John’s Special School and College (SJSSC).
The LAB provides strategic leadership and holds the Head of School accountable for sound educational and financial performance, including the development, safeguarding and well-being of our children and staff. Our governance activities include ensuring implementation and adherence to school policies, reviewing budgetary progress, monitoring and evaluating staffing needs, and asking challenging questions of the Leadership Team on an array of topics. Our role also includes engaging with the school’s stakeholders such pupils, parents, staff, and the wider community regarding achievements, as well as short and long-term goals.
Our LAB members include staff, parent and co-opted governors who possess a wide range of expertise in education and other business sectors. I am a proud native of Bedford, and have served in a number of leadership roles in people and compliance management within the retail banking sector. I am honored and delighted to be associated with SJSSC and serve in this important capacity.
The school’s vision of Achieving Together underpins the continued success of SJSSC, ensuring our children are provided with the education they deserve. Feel free to contact me with any questions, feedback or concerns you may have.
